Recovery; how do we get from A to B without giving up or killing someone?
We are all recovering from something; pain has a way of creeping into our
lives in various different ways: emotionally, financially, physically, and
spiritually. How well we recover, and one’s attitude during the recovery
stages, plays a vital role in not having someone wanting to kill us.
Additionally, how do we know when we have crossed the finish line
completely and on all levels? How do we get from A to B to Z in the
recovery zone with our sanity and pride?
As most of you know, my life has been one recovery zone after another,
the latest I have considered just another test of my faith, wit, and will.
During my many bouts of recovery I have learned to laugh through most
trials and laugh harder at myself and those around me who supply me with
great entertainment. This helps me to feel like I am staying positive and I
hear laughter is the best medicine. Right?
I write my little stories to kill time and keep loved ones informed of my
progress. Of course I candy coat the heck out of my inner feelings; those
who are laughing the loudest are often hurting the most inside. I hate
admitting the ugly side of healing. I would much rather hide my pity
parties I view as a weakness where only those who are closest to me know
I carry. In other words, I would rather have a root canal done than to take
time to cry on a friends shoulder to get it all out; but eventually I do.
Usually my pain is pride related; nonetheless, sometimes I am justified in
crying out in pain. Regardless, I use my stories and other methods of
generating laughter to keep sane.
I sometimes wonder if Erma Bombeck had bad bouts of the blues which
inspired her to constantly take the funniest parts of her week and transform
them into words.
I can tell you this, I can write my best stories when I am being faced with a
painful overwhelming challenge. Writing has become my outlet; I am
hoping you will let it become yours as well...
Umm...Pappa?...that wasn't one of the stories...
It's just another page of encouragement to move forward and participate in this web site... Yes, I do know half of the audience won't be old enough to appreciate the Erma Bombeck line...I'm not getting old! You're old... no, you're old... OK, Pappa, I'm old too... So, you ready to read some stories? Where do you want to start? OK, so you want to start in the Abusive Realationship section, the Financial section, Homesick section, Mourning section, Depression section, Broken Bones & Bandages section, or Wheelchair section? Yes, Pappa, I am sure more sections will be created as the webmaster receives more stories from people... I know you only have a broken hip and it wasn't caused from someone abusing you but the stories in that section are funny too...No you're not going to read about people beating other people up; these are stories about the funny things people see in life today as they are trying to heal. Just like your hip needs to heal, their spirits, finances, minds, and too often their bones, need to heal...That's a good choice, Papa...
